Big Changes

Big changes have come with the stable that I keep my horses at.  Laughton Training Services has leased a wonderful new facility not far from the existing one. We were offered a choice, to move with them or move elsewhere. This was something of a shock for those of us who had been with Tessa awhile and offered some worry and sleeplessness.  I have enjoyed my time with Tessa and her group but decided that it would be best for me financially if I looked elsewhere. 2 horses are expensive. :( Tessa does mostly lessons and horse shows where as I am interested in other things.  So an opportunity has arrived for change. Is change good?

Change is not always a welcome idea for humans or horses. We both seem to like things to stay the same forever but nothing ever does. Change makes us uncomfortable. We don't know what we are going to encounter with our change. We don't know if we are going to like the changes or if they are going to improve our lives or not. Change is scary. It takes you out of your comfort zone and encourages you to change and maybe grow. Growth is good.

So as it turned out new people have leased the facility and are going to continue it as a boarding barn.  They are moving from another facility and joining two business together. One a boarding stable called Trinity Trotters and the other a rescue called Tammar Equine. So now this is getting interesting.

Some of you who have known me for many years know that Riva is a PMU foal I bought sight unseen from an organization that rescued unsold foals who were destined for the slaughterhouse.  That was in 2000 and I worked with them for a number of years helping find homes for foals.  We found homes for several thousand foals over the time we were doing this..about 5 years.  Many of those foals are still active competitors and pleasure horses today.  They had a life that they would never have had if we had not helped them find their way.

So I have decided to stay with them and embrace the opportunity of change and of meeting new people and new horses. A different outlook on things that the new folks will have.  So now change becomes interesting and something to look forward to. New opportunities have arisen that I hope work out well in the future.  So change is not always a bad thing.

Now that said the girls may not find change quite as easy to take as I have. They have  been more on edge with all their friends leaving. Soon they will make more friends hopefully without incident. The grass will be arriving soon and that should help.  Sharing food is always a good way to make friends.

love your attitude, I felt so many of those emotions when I had to move. I'll be over to visit soon!
